Prevention and Protection Comes Together

Nowadays I never subscribe to hardcopy newspaper anymore, I update myself with online news and have been doing that for the past few years.  One of the reasons for not buying newspaper is that I do not want to read distressing news each day.  Murders, robberies, kidnapping, rape, lives lost in fires and many more tragedies that bring sorrow and pain when I read about them.  I prefer to read the do and don'ts, how to prevent or avoid such tragedy and recently I went for a seminar talk on how to "survive" in a city, literally.
City survival is for the ladies especially the teens and the young adults, how to prevent oneself from being stalked and become a victim of rape and murder which has been happening rampantly these days.  The speaker has taken efforts to analyze case after case, why and how it happened and what are the ways to avoid such mishap.  In cases like fires, he recommended that we should invest in some protection and one of them is getting some fire blankets for home.  With these anti-fire blankets, the percentage of getting burnt is low, accidents do happen at home, especially with small kids and toddlers, it is best that we keep some household protection.  As the saying goes, it is advisable to invest in some protection and get some prevention.

A Traumatic Experience

As a mother, I can feel the anguish and the trauma of the parents whose son is still missing.  I can still remember one time when my own son wandered off by himself when he was three or four years of age.  My husband and I were in the shopping mall and each of us took for granted that I was holding my son's hand and vice versa when we were walking among the crowd.  Then when we realized that my second son has wandered off without us knowing, we really panicked!  We separated ways to look for him ... and after few minutes we found him walking in the opposite direction crying away.... oh Gosh.. imagine our relief!!  Immediately, my husband wanted to go home.. no mood to shop anymore after the  feeling of fear and the panic...

This clearly shows me that I cannot blame any mother or father for losing their child.. sometimes it just happens without a slightest thought that our kids can just walk off by themselves.. we are just not prepared for that.. but only after experiencing it in real, we learn a lesson... that is, never take for granted.. we must really be real... get real... think real... don't let other thoughts get into our way especially when our small kids are with us..

Obesity In Malaysia

Today I read the Star news in amusement... it is written that Malaysia is now rated as the fattest country in South-East Asia!  According to our Health Minister, this title is not glorious.  I nearly laughed out loud when I read that.

Well, I really do not have any doubt about that.  Who are we to blame for our obesity?  No one but us... we are of mixed culture and having mixed culture, food is surely different as well.  And I, for one, love food so much that I travel just to taste the good food... LOL...

One thing I know for sure... we Malaysians have too much varieties of food.. most of them are so tasty that one cannot resist having more than three meals per day....

So...what shall we do, Malaysians?  How do we keep fit and healthy  with all the food temptations around us each day?  Tell me...

India Rape Victim Succumbed To Injuries

It was devastating that the 23 year old young medical student had undergone such brutal and torturing hour under the hands of six merciless sadistic men.  The horror and terrifying hour she has to go through, it is unimaginable... may she rest in peace....

I heard on the radio this morning that she has finally succumbed to her injuries, as written in the Star,
"She was courageous in fighting for her life for so long against the odds but the trauma to her body was too severe for her to overcome," Kelvin Loh, chief executive officer of the Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore said in a statement announcing her death from multiple organ failure.

Thank God for the one witness who is still alive, the justice to bring the guilty ones will be prevailed soon!

My Say On PMR Results

The PMR results are out this morning... that reminds me, yes, school is going to reopen soon and most students will be excited to go school again....ooops... I wrote ""most"... OK?  It stands for those who have just taken their results and I am sure these students are looking forward towards another level academically.  ON the other hand, some might not be ecstatic as the others, disappointment and some unexpected results might turn off their schooling mode.

Straight A's or crooked, let not take this PMR as your life line decision.  There are still two years more to improve oneself at the next level.  Speaking from experiences I came across before, there were many of my friends who had done poorly in PMR and that was not "the end of the world" for them.  To many unexpected parents and school teachers, these "dark horses" galloped furiously during their next two years, Form 4 and 5 and scored amazing results for their SPM... so remember, all is not lost when one did badly in important exams.  My deduction is... some young people mature later than the others and when they really do know the importance of good academic results is, they will "gallop" to the finishing line with great determination and confidence.

Any Day Could Be Doomsday

Doomsday on December 21st?  Preparations being taken place?  Survival kits are announced on Astro too!  Today in the STAR online news as well... Do You Believe In Doomsday?

I believe in Doomsday but if stated on the 21st, I do not really accept that.  Maybe I really truly cannot accept that as what was shown in the movie in 2009... that was three years back and the movie is called 2012.  I have watched it and it was kind of terrifying... but I do believe that one day the world will pass on...  one day.. when we are all caught off-guarded...

I am not well versed in planets and astrology, what I am more interested in is to prepare myself emotionally when the time comes.  Spiritually I have a HOPE that remains in my heart.. death on earth means gain...

Philippinans 1:21 says.. For to me, to live is for Christ, to die is gain... (meeting Christ)

While we wait upon doomsday, let our hearts be spiritually prepared for His coming... be it day or night... 21st, 22nd or any day of the year....

Tunku Abdul Rahman Scholarship Scheme

It is announced that that Tunku Abdul Rahman foundation has a new scholarship scheme for high-achievers who have completed their first year of undergraduate studies at local institutions.

Indeed this is good news for those eligible who scores good CGPA of 3.5 and above.  These new scholarships includes tuition fees and a monthly allowance of RM600!
Well, I hope this will truly apply and rewarded to those who really needs the financial assistance and to those who really have the potential and the determination to pursue in their studies.

It might not be so easy to become a scholarship holder for this TAR foundation but nevertheless, there is still a chance, a slim chance is all it takes....

Rampage Shootout In Connecticut

It is really devastating when I read today's highlight on the shooting rampage that happened in this quiet and peaceful Newtown in Connecticut, the worst mass shootings in U.S. history.  Really saddening especially when the lives taken were of twenty school children, poor innocent lives of these kids who had not really understand the cruelty of the world today.

Imagine the anguish and the trauma of the victims' families, the parents, the siblings... never would one expect that the next minute, their love ones are not around anymore... it is indeed the worst nightmare one can ever want to think of.....
Even when we are worlds apart, many of us share the anguish and the tears for these poor kids and their families...

Consolation and comfort is most needed now...
The question is... how to avoid such incidents from happening, it can be anywhere.... is it the society's fault?  Or is it the emotional stress that cause this to happen?

In a moving speech by Monsignor Robert Weiss, he was quoted as saying this...
"Life has changed forever in Newtown... we have 20 new saints today... we have 20 beautiful angels."

God bless these little angels who have gone to join Him....
