We Are Here To Praise YOU!

I attended my first official Methodist Senior Fellowship night at the beginning of this month.  It was indeed an memorable affair for me because I was given the privilege to lead in the worship and in front of a crowd.  I was overwhelmed with excitement... the shivers that sprang inside me was not at all encouraging.  I have learn my lessons previously, the more I was determined to give a good praise, the less I was able to perform it well.  This time I am more prepared, not due to more practices but prayers!  The week before the real day, I lifted up this petition to my Lord, submitting to Him and asking for a prepared heart.. just to focus on Him and not on my own ability.  The songs are for Him, we have to sing it wholeheartedly.  Give me a humble heart to enjoy the worshiping, not to please others but wholehearted for Him.  Indeed it works!  The night of Praise and Worship went on tremendously well, the chords did not get entangled by my fingers, I was able to play without any panic of keys, if you know what I mean... and right till the end, I really have to give Him all the Praise He deserves!!

Where Do I Begin - Love Story

My blog is now "revamped"... from today onwards, this blog will be anew and renewed. I will blog about my life, my passion for music and how it flows in to each day's circumstances.  Music is the main theme here.  Without music, the world will stand still.  Music is not just about the instruments but voices that come out from our mouth....

And now...

Where do I begin... to tell the story of how great a Love can be...
The sweet love story that is older than the sea...
That sings the truth about the love He brings to me...
Where do I start...

Well, let me start off with giving Thanks to my one and only Almighty God... For He has indeed a Blessing in my life.. without Him, I am a goner... gone case lady!  The story of my life with Him started in the year 1997, the same year my partner was allowed to be taken away... and since then... I am in "another world".. a very different world...

Everything I own, everything I have... they do not belong to me now...

Two Practices In One Day

Worship practice started at 4pm and it went all the way to nearly 6pm... voices almost gone by then ... .LOL.. but I enjoyed the practice tremendously!  There are two different events actually, the earlier practice was for the Lighthouse ministry and they will be celebrating their annual anniversary on the 25th July 2013.  All are invited to join in the celebration and the group of us are going to render five songs during the occasion.  I am looking forward to the day and I hope I will be able to reach there in time.  It is still a working day for me and the event will start around 5pm... I have to rush from the office to the Lighthouse ministry which is ten minutes from my office if there is no traffic jam!

Another practice was at 5pm today and it was for the Sunday sermon tomorrow.... well, another three songs and two hymns will be rendered... the prayer by Joel this evening was short and meaningful... he prayed that we will focus on God when we sing and not for ourselves...that is what worship means!  I Amen to that... anytime!

How Good It Is ...

After the feedback, I need to take up guitar lessons.... the amplifier was too loud and it was very noisy.. I was feeling quite disappointed...

But just a moment ago, I realized that as long as our hearts are on the worship, it does not matter how our voices sound... as long as all praises and glory are dedicated to our Lord God...

You Alone I Praise Lyrics & Chords

You Alone I Praise is sung orginally by New Creation Church in Singapore in 2008 but I only got to know this song just a few days ago when I played the CD in my car. Since then, it was played repeatedly non stop. I searched for the lyrics in Google.... couldn't find any websites linking to this song.

Didn't want to give up, I listened to the song again and I memorized them... so easy and yet so tough when it comes to school books! After the lyrics, the next step is the guitar chords. With God's blessing, I got the guitar chords in the lyrics as well...

Praise the Lord... we want to proclaim this song to our Heavenly Father...

Our first recording together ... not perfect at all... please bear with us...

The Benefits of Listening to Good Music

When you feel tired and a little stressed out. Take a seat, play your favorite tunes and let your mind be away from all the worries even for just an hour so. You’ll be surprised to feel more relaxed afterwards. This is the power of good music; it can soothe your senses and your mind. There is a certain “magic” in songs that can actually make you feel better. Researchers and medical professionals even consider listening to music as a good form of therapy.

Too much stress and a series of tragic events could send a person in a depression. This behavior that could disrupt one’s daily activities can be treated. Try listening to good music that brings back happy memories. Let it set an uplifting mood that could help you forget the traumatic experiences and focus more on the happy ones.

Those suffering from dementia or Alzheimer’s disease could also benefit from listening to music. There are some health care facilities that offer music therapy sessions to old people and studies show that patients show positive response while listening to familiar tunes that often bring them back to their younger years. This helps them remember the past moments in their life.

If you are having a hard time trying to sleep, a few relaxing songs can relax your nerves and mind. This can stimulate a good sleep which is also vital in order to achieve a healthy body. Who would think that an activity as simple as listening to music could provide your body with a number of benefits?

Stage Fright

With my guitar in one hand and a tambourine in another, I hope I can continue to worship and sing in church as long as I can still manage. Sometimes I dream of being a lead worshiper, I mean real dreams, I mean I dreamt about it on and off. But when I imagine myself being on stage leading, my legs like turn "jelly." In fact one lead worshiper asked me why I did not want to be a lead worshiper since I can sing and can listen to the music.... I was caught off guarded... and the only reason I could think of that day was... I get stage fright if I lead.. but as a back-up singer, I am not nervous at all...
Gosh... I guess I need God to grant me courage....

MSF Anniversary Night

Last night there was a special occasion in Methodist Church, it was the 16th Anniversary for the MSF,(Methodist Senior Fellowship)... I am not a member yet, don't know when I will be... anytime now cos I am already eligible to be called a Senior.... ahem....

Cell leader sms-ed me and it sounded kind of desperate... to seek help for a guitarist... last minute, I didn't practise much and here I was, playing my heart out but I know I didn't do very well... my fingers were hurting too much that the chords didnt come out perfectly... sigh..

One side of me says... well, hope they forget me soon! After the buffet, I left quietly....

didnt know there were such a turnout...

the stage where we played..

Nerved UP!

I was really "nerved-up" in the church practice a while ago.... gosh, how could I... Why is my temper so short nowadays? Can I blame it on PMS?
In the house of the Lord, I was quite worked up during the practice. Am I a perfectionist in music? I hope they will sing it correctly tomorrow, but then, did I sing it correct too? I told them I would rather not sing that part because the three of us will be singing in 3 different versions which will more or less "murder" the song.... gosh!!
But after some practising... my temper cooled down.... sigh... how I wish I am more qualified to tell others what to do ....
May God be the one who Leads us tomorrow....

What Shall We Sing?

Cell leader called me up to ask what songs we should sing for next week church service. Frankly I told her I was still tired after coming back from my trip just last night and I do not have the inspirations yet on what songs we should be singing.
I told her to choose them herself and I hope she gets them well...
We are the Reason is a nice song but I m sure the congregation does not know how to sing this..
Maybe we should stick to the old worship songs first..

Cell Group Celebration

We had a pot bless last night and the turnout was great... lots of abundant food to savour... as usual, we had our worship praise to our Lord before we started the food galore.

Later it was a candle blowing birthday celebration for three golden ladies... a birthday song was sung and many of us took part in the singing program after the feast!
