Its All About Prayers..

Pastor Jeyakumar was very emotional tonight... he broke down into tears few times, I was holding back mine, swallowing the "lump" at my throat but during the closing prayer, the tears fell. I cried not because he cried, many of us cried because what he said was quite true. We are from the middle aged income, we are at our comfort zone and we only pray for three persons, I, Me, Myself...

He was also telling us about a true life story, half way through his tears fell... It is about...

A girl named Hilda, who was sold to a child prostitution syndicate by her mum at the age of 4. She was into all kinds of acts at that age and by the time she reached her teens, she has become a mother to 2 kids. She love them very much but her own mother took them away, calling her that she is unfit to be their mother because she is a scum, filthy and dirty. Because of that reason, she worked doubly hard to earn money, she serviced 100 men per day to save money.
One day she was beaten by one of her clients and she had very serious injuries. She wanted to commit suicide in the hospital but before she did, she cried out to God.... and she saw a vision... it said "Rehad". With the help of the nurse, she managed to call to this "Rehad" which is a home for distress ladies. She was finally at peace with her life after that she stay in that home...

I may have left out something here but the main point of this story is not about her... it is about our Prayers.... we need to Pray.... not just pray about ourselves, pray for our friends, our church, our nation.... They need our prayers as well.... and most of all, God Answers.....

Agape

Do you know that the most powerful word for love is Agape? Agape means unconditional love, the love that surges in the heart of God. Everything God does is motivated by love. He can do nothing being the controlling factor. The fruit of the Spirit is expected to experience and demonstrate when we are indwelt by the Spirit is not a general kind of Love but love of a specific kind... the love which surges in the heart of God and is seen exemplified in Jesus.

Joy

Joy is one of the chief characteristics of a Christian, and yet sadly so many of us believers know nothing o fit. This is a great hindrance to our witness. Joy is not resignation of wearing a wan smile. The joy spoken of its exuberant and overflowing. The summons to rejoice is sounded no less than seventy times in the New Testament and this New Testament is really a book of joy.

Whatever the ingredients of Christian experience and in whatever proportions they are mixed together, joy is one of them.

The Fruits Of The Spirit

Every other fruits of the spirit proceeds from this first fruit of love. See the connection below:

Love is patient - patience
Love is kind - kindness
Love does not envy- goodness
Love does not boast and is not proud - gentleness
Love is not self-seeking and is not easily angered - self control and peace
Love rejoices with the truth - joy
Love always protects, always hopes, always perseveres - faithfulness

Once we have love, we have all the fruit of the Spirit. Without it, we are nothing.

First Fruit - Love

The first fruit of the Spirit is "Love." Love is the chief distinguishing mark of a child of God. Some regard the chief mark of a Christian as faith. But if we have faith that can move mountains but do not have love then we are nothing. Others say that truth is the greatest distinguishing mark of a Christan but Paul tells us that even if we can fathom all mysteries and understand the truth about everything yet do not have love then again we are nothing.

Helping One Another

One confession to make... there is one lady whom we love to avoid going out with during tea break or lunch break. We always end up like "hidden dragon, crouching tiger" to avoid being seen by her. This afternoon, while I was discussing this matter with another colleague, we reminded each other that it is not Christ-like to avoid going out with her. Due to unpopularity and attitude problem, we seem not to helping her but to leave her in deeper hole, so it seems. So my colleague and I made a pact that we should not avoid her so much. We should be befriending her to make her feel like one of us instead of leaving her behind. Perhaps this is God's calling to give us sign to help this lady out, perhaps by joining us, she can shed off her attitude problem and experience a brighter side of life. As written in the Bible, Jesus said "don't just love those who love u, anyone can do that, as Christians, we should love those who are our enemies"..... am i right?

Scriptures Applied to Our Everyday Life

Why should we memorize scriptures? As written here, Jesus used scripture as the sword of the Spirit against Satan, even when satan tried to misuse scripture as a part of the temptation. Memorizing scriptures helps you to gain victory over sin. It also helps you to answer when people have questions about your faith. Being able to recite scriptures by heart helps you to meditate on it and gives you direction for your daily life at any moment. Most of all, the greatest benefit of memorizing scriptures comes from obedience to doing what God commands...

"Deuteronomy 6:6...These commands that I give you today are to be upon your hearts"

Memorizing Words...

A deeper way to get the Word into our hearts is to memorize it. When we remember the word, it really lives in us, we live in it and God's promises become our possessions. It is like asking "how can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word... I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you." (Psalm 119:9, 11)

When we memorize God's words, we make it applicable in our lives ... each day, we will not fear having to wonder "what to do or what should be done" .. God's words live in us, our hearts and minds focused on Him... when situation arises, we will know how to apply it to our lives and what to say to others.... this is the word of the Lord in us....

The Book Of Job

These few days I started to read the book of Job..... In the beginning, God and satan had a talk about the righteous and so on... and came upon Job... God said Job is a righteous man and nothing can make him change his mind on God. But satan thought otherwise and he wanted to test Job, with one condition, God said, "dont take his life."

So satan did all he could on Job, making his life miserable and sickness befell on Job that he complained bitterly to his friends, even his wife asked him to defy God... But throughtout his ordeal, Job never did defy God, he only asked why...why... but he didnt turn away from Him.

In the book of Job, it teaches us no matter how much we are inflicted with troubles and sickness, never never deny God.. only through troubles, He will make us strong and we just have to trust in Him only.... This is our God....

Our Goal In Life

Before my son entered college, I have surfed online for information and details as to how and what college he should go to. There are many colleges and universities that he could apply but to choose one, it really took a lot of time. That was when I came across Capella University. that offers

Briefly about Capella University, it is a fully online university that offers good accreditation, assuring the students and the public that it has meet or exceeds the standards in terms of quality of faculty, curriculum, learner services and fiscal stability. Besides that, it is also a school mba that provides Master's and PhD degrees for working adults at their own convenience to achieve their education to greater level. For preview on interviews with Capella students , faculty and staff sharing their online education experience, click on to their website for better understanding. I am sure many of us are interested in pursuing higher education to achieve our goals in life.

The Journey To Five Disciplines

Let me share briefly about Jesus's habits were... It includes spending time in solitude and prayer, relying on the word of God, having confidence in His unconditional love relationship with His Father and benefiting from the comfort He found in fellowship with a small group of intimates. So it is important for us to encourage one another to begin or renew our journey to developing these five disciplines as key ingredients to leading like Jesus.
When we face a similar situation, let us ponder for awhile, "What would Jesus do?" And then we will know where to look for the answer, that is Jesus habits.
(some words are excerpts from the book)

Role Model In Jesus

For a role model for leadership in Jesus, there are 5 key habits that we should follow. There are solitude, prayer, study and application of Scripture, accepting and responding to God's unconditional love and involvement in supportive relationships. With all these 5 key habits, Jesus staed on track with His mission eventhough He was under constant pressure and tempation.

If we want to develop a character like Jesus, we have to look carefully at His habits.

Love One Another

Love One Another as in 1John 3:11

We must love each other and also those people who hated us because our love for each other proves that we have gone from death to life. But if you don't love one another, you are still under the power of death. If we hate each other, we are considered sinful and we won't have eternal life.
When we love each other, we know that we belong to the truth and fell at ease in the presence of God. God is greater than our feelings and He knows everything. He will give us whatever we ask because we obey Him and do what pleases Him. If we obey His commandments, He will stay with us and we in Him.

Loving Verses

I love taking girlie home from school actually, though I grumbled about the heat and the commitment at times, the joy of seeing my girl coming out from the school gate, watching her crossing the road to my car brings a bout of happiness for me....

Last week, when she got into my car, she sighed... "mum, on friday I have to lead in christian fellowship.... what bible verse shall I do?" oh oh... I told her, look into the gospel books, Matthew, John, Luke, Acts...there are so many parables there... just choose one and elaborate on it. Well, talking is easy, right?
During the night, we sat down together on the bed and discussed about it and finally we settled upon 1 Corinthians 13:4

Love is kind and patient, never jealous, boastful, proud or rude...
Love isn't selfish or quick tempered
It doesn't keep a record of wrongs that others do...
Love recuices in the truth but not in evil..
Love is always supportive, loyal, hopeful and trust...
LOVE NEVER FAILS...
