Purpose Driven Life First Question

Continuing from Rick Warren's book, Purpose Driven Life, there are three insights into our purpose of life. Here is an extract from this book...

1. You discover your identitiy and purpose through a relationship with Jesus Christ. If yoyu don't have sucah a relationship, I will later explain how to begin one.

2. God was thinking of you long before you ever thought about Him. His purpose for your life predates your conception. He planned it b efore you existed, without your input! You may choose your career, your spouse, your hobbies, and many other parts of your life, but you don't get to choose your purpose.

3. The purpose of your life fits into a much larger, cosmic purpose that God has designed for eternity.

Here are some points to ponder...

It is not about me....

Verse to Remember .. "Everything got started in Him and finds its purpose in Him." Colossians l:l6b(Msg)

Question to Consider : In spite of all the advertising around me, how can I remind myself that life i sreally about living for God, not myself?

It is really difficult actually, especially I am not focused on God all the time.. I feel deeply guilty many times and I shied away from Him often too. I hide behind the "trees" as in Adam and Eve... I am not pure nor holy... and all these is "I"
Without God, nothing is meaningful.... if it is just I and I, nothing can be solved nor be satisfied. Eventually I need to turn back to God... for His forgiveness and blessings... it is not about I, but He. I cannot make all things possible but He can... He shall...

Rick Warren The Purpose Driven Life

Have we ever ask ourselves what on earth are we here for???

Rick Warren has written this beautiful book on our Purpose Driven Life and he makes it very clearly why and what we are on earth for. This book is about our journey with a purpose, written here, it is more than a book, it is a guide to a 40-day spiritual journey to enable us to discover the answer to life's most important question. What on earth am I here for?

By the end of the book Rick assures us that we will know God's purpose in our lives and will understand the big picture how all the pieces of our life fit together.

He's Saved!

I am happy in a sense that one more life has accepted salvation... he is my uncle.. gosh, he was against Christianity initially.... but to hear from my mum that he accepted Christ and said the sinner's prayer with Pastor, it was wonderful news!
Praise The Lord...
This Friday evening he will be baptised...
As the Bible says.. even at ninth hour, we can be saved..
May the Lord be with him in this time of sickness...

One of my favourite songs sung at cell group... sung by Hillsong, it has a true meaning in our live.. no matter how far and how much we look out for, there is none like HIM in our lives.. all we need is to surrender our lives and believe in HIM and He will take care of us....

A Blessed Sermon

Tonight sermon was very nice.. pastor talked about parents and their kids... how many of us were first generation Christians... we have a passion if we are.... but will the second and third generation have the same kind of passion for Christ? If we do not "breathe" the words from the Bible into their lives, will they understand?
Yes, it struck me ... did I share any Christian ways with my kids while they are with me? Did I share any Bible verses with them? I am guilty... I allow my kids to learn on their own... and I thank God that they are doing good, so far...

Blessing In Disguise

Praise God for today ... my mum and siblings went to Penang to visit my brother and everything was alright except for some lost directions by my BIL.
What had happened yesterday between uncle and nephew might have a reason why it happened... my mum said that our God might have a reason why the trip was not materialized.. maybe to avoid something not good happening... right?
What she said may be true..anyway, I hope time will dilute the rift... I believe it will... yes!

Let It Be Resolved...

Hope uncle-and-nephew grouses are over in no time.. This has been bothering me...
God, I pray that they won't keep them inside their hearts. Let them be forgiving with each other. Why does it have to happen so unexpectedly? Is this a lesson to learn?
Both are also close to me.... I cannot be siding one... it is just a misunderstanding and miscommunication... hope it will be resolved soon...
I leave it in your hands, Lord..
Thank you....

Same Kind Of Different As Me

Same Kind Of Different As Me... this book is very unique in a way, even the title of the book has given an impression that it is simple and yet it is different, unlike all books I have read.
From the first pages of this book, I was taken into the time where the blacks were "un-named" and this guy Denver Moore is one of them.

From young, traumatized by the death of his beloved grandmother and to the years he ran off to a new state with less than $20 in his pocket, he encountered much in his life. Talking to a white is so difficult, let alone making friends. But eventually he found a true friend in Ron Hall, an international art dealer who went into mission with his wife. Together they became firm friends with Denver, breaking him out of his "shell", giving him back the confidence and they walked the journey with God by their side.

This book really brings about emotions of faith and friendship between two men despite the difficulties in life against all odds.

Psalm 55 says "A contemplation of David."

David began th esong by begging God to listen to his cries. Then he recited his burdens to Him.

Attend to me, and hear me, I am restless in my complaint and moan noisily, because of the voice of the enemy, because of the oppression of the wicked, for they bring down trouble upon me, and in wrath they hate me. My heart is severely pained within me and the terrors of death have fallen upon me. Fearfulness and trembling have come upon me and horror has overwhelmed me.

This passage tells us that we may face difficulties in life, unsolvable problems, things getting out of hand, all these caused us emotional problems and then suddenly we realized we need help. We might find ourselves overwhelmed by feelings of anger and despair and we cannot enjoy life anymore.

We used to be healthy but now we are always feeling sick.

Finances out of control and we cannot recover from grief.

If we look closer we can pinpoint times in David's personal history that he might be referring in this Psalm.
WE are not different from David.... he needed God and so do We....

Running Away

The desire to run away from difficult circumstances to the "greener pastures" on the other side of fence is not new or unique. It is far too common in fact.

Have we ever felt like running away? Any number of circumstances could trigger your desire to run.

Do you have a boring dead-end job where you have no hope of advancement?
Are you in a marriage that started bright with love and promise but has now turned sour by apathy, distrust or broken dreams?
Do you have a college roommate who is driving you up the wall?

Look at David in Psalm55, we can better understand why we often feel like running away and we will also discover a better way to respond.
