Pastor Jeyakumar was very emotional tonight... he broke down into tears few times, I was holding back mine, swallowing the "lump" at my throat but during the closing prayer, the tears fell. I cried not because he cried, many of us cried because what he said was quite true. We are from the middle aged income, we are at our comfort zone and we only pray for three persons, I, Me, Myself...
He was also telling us about a true life story, half way through his tears fell... It is about...
A girl named Hilda, who was sold to a child prostitution syndicate by her mum at the age of 4. She was into all kinds of acts at that age and by the time she reached her teens, she has become a mother to 2 kids. She love them very much but her own mother took them away, calling her that she is unfit to be their mother because she is a scum, filthy and dirty. Because of that reason, she worked doubly hard to earn money, she serviced 100 men per day to save money.
One day she was beaten by one of her clients and she had very serious injuries. She wanted to commit suicide in the hospital but before she did, she cried out to God.... and she saw a vision... it said "Rehad". With the help of the nurse, she managed to call to this "Rehad" which is a home for distress ladies. She was finally at peace with her life after that she stay in that home...
I may have left out something here but the main point of this story is not about her... it is about our Prayers.... we need to Pray.... not just pray about ourselves, pray for our friends, our church, our nation.... They need our prayers as well.... and most of all, God Answers.....
I agree with you sometimes we are too selfish of just focusing on the benefit of our be haft, the story that you just told about was so inspiring such a strength to persevere to pursue her endeavors... its all about prayers indeed and God will always provide what we deserve...
ReplyDeleteVery well said Claire. I hope others can see how blessed they were. I hope everyone of us will reflect about God every morning as we wake up and as we doze off to sleep.
ReplyDeleteHave a good day Claire.
i think it's very important that churches have a prayer session/meeting where members come together to pray for the church, people & nation, ie. "corporate prayer".
ReplyDeletewe have one on tuesday nites but the attendance is consistently poor. maybe it's because like you said, we think too much of I, me & myself.
but we all know prayer works, even more so when we honestly & sincerely come together at His feet, & the prayer of a righteous people is powerful.
prayer is powerful specially if someone else pray for you. Thanks for sharing this story.
